My name is Jon Anthony, and I’ve personally tried Cardarine for fat loss and body building—and in this article, I’m going to relay my experience.
Not only that, but I’ll also cover the results I got from my Cardarine cycle, the dosage I used, which SARMs to stack it with, and much more.
If you want an honest Cardarine (GW-501516) review, then take it from me, that this supplement is GREAT for endurance and fat loss.
So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at this interesting new supplement, how to use it safely, what the evidence suggests, and much, much more.
What is Cardarine?
First off, it’s very important to understand that Cardarine, sometimes referred to by its research name GW-501516, is not technically a SARM.
Technically, Cardarine is a PPAR delta receptor agonist, but it’s grouped together with SARMs, because they’re all sold as research chemicals.
Cardarine was initially developed as a drug to treat people suffering from metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, but isn’t FDA approved.
Of course, this hasn’t stopped body builders from using Cardarine (along with other SARMs) to rapidly shred fat and build muscle, though.
How Does Cardarine Work?
Similar to other SARMs like RAD 140 or Ligandrol, Cardarine is very fast acting and begins exerting effects on the body shortly after ingestion.
It works by binding to peroxisome proliferator-activated delta receptors in the body, and switches the liver’s energy source to fatty acids. [R]
Normally, your liver uses glucose for energy, but by switching this source to fatty acids, Cardarine effectively puts you in a state of ketosis.
This is why researchers believed Cardarine could be used as a drug to treat those suffering from cardiovascular disease and type II diabetes. [R]
It didn’t take long for body builders to notice that Cardarine could ALSO be used to increase metabolic rate and rapidly shred fat, however…
Cardarine (GW501516) Benefits
The biggest benefits of Cardarine, or GW501516, are drastically enhanced endurance, and rapid fat loss—this is why most people end up taking it.
That being said, there’s also a ton of other research-backed health benefits of using Cardarine, such as lowered cholesterol, and much more.

Cardarine has a ton of research-backed benefits, and is great to stack with other SARMs for a lean bulk, or to accelerate fat loss while cutting.
It’s also great to pair with other SARMs, because the HDL cholesterol increasing effects of Cardarine can offset the HDL decreasing side effects of some SARMs.
Supercharged Endurance
Perhaps the biggest benefit of taking Cardarine, or GW501516, is its potential to supercharge both muscle and cardiovascular endurance.
One of the most famous studies regarding Cardarine found that it improved endurance by 216% when compared to placebo. [R]
I personally noticed this on my cycle, too. I’ve taken a lot of nutrition supplements in my life, and NOTHING worked as well as Cardarine.
Enhanced Fat Loss
Another great benefit of Cardarine is that it RAPIDLY accelerates fat loss—hell, when I was on my cycle I felt the pounds just melting away.
In fact, some users report losing up to 25 pounds of bodyfat from just one cycle of Cardarine, even if their nutrition isn’t that great.
I didn’t personally notice this much fat loss on Cardarine, but to be fair, I was already around 12% bodyfat, so losing 7 pounds of fat is pretty good.
Cardarine Results
The above picture is from a 90 day SARMs cycle I did two years ago, consisting of Ostarine, Ligandrol, and of course, Cardarine (GW501516).
I first documented my Cardarine results in my SARMs before and after article, but I’ll give you a quick recap about my experience here.
Overview of My Results
- Ostarine Dosage: 25 mg
- Ligandrol Dosage: 10 mg
- Cardarine Dosage: 10 mg
- Cycle Length: 90 Days
- Muscle Gain: 18 Pounds
- Fat Loss: 7 Pounds
Every day, for 90 days, I took my doses first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I took my doses on both workout days and rest days.
These days, I get my SARMs from Chemyo, which I wrote a full review on. They’re one of the best SARMs vendors out there, due to their high quality, competitive prices, and extremely rigorous 3rd party testing.
Cardarine Dose & Stacks
For my first SARMs cycle, I took 10 mg of Cardarine, which I stacked with Ostarine and Ligandrol. I had great results, and would do it again.
Clinical studies done on humans have studied the effects of Cardarine doses ranging from 2.5 mg to 10 mg, but nothing more than this, though.
Dosing Guidelines
- Beginner: 5 mg per day
- Intermediate: 10 mg per day
- Advanced: 20 mg per day
That being said, many body builders report using up to 20 mg per day of Cardarine, and having no adverse short term health side effects.
For an advanced dosage, that would be equivalent to taking one full dropper of the GW501516 from Chemyo, each day.
How to Take It
Once you buy some Cardarine (ideally from a source I recommend), you can get started by taking one full dropper per day, even on rest days.
The reason why you take Cardarine (and other SARMs) on rest days, is to maintain an even level of these supplements in your blood stream.
Some people take multiple Cardarine doses each day, but this isn’t necessary to maintain stable blood levels, due to Cardarine’s half life.
Stack Guidelines
If you want to build even more muscle and burn even more fat, then you may want to consider combining GW501516 with other SARMs.

You could get awesome results by just taking those exact dosages each day for either an 8 week cycle, or a 12 week cycle, followed by a PCT.
In general, Cardarine works best for cutting and fat loss, so people typically either use it on a cutting cycle, or to do a really lean bulk.
Side Effects & Safety
Most body builders who use Cardarine for fat loss experience no short term side effects—I didn’t experience any myself, either.
Some people claim that Cardarine may accelerate cancer growth, but in my opinion, the research to back this claim is extremely sketchy at best.
The study in question, which is often cited to state that Cardarine causes cancer, gave lab rats a ridiculous amount of this drug for WAY too long.
Does Cardarine Cause Cancer?
In this study, researchers gave Han Wistar lab rats a Cardarine dosage of 3 mg per kg per day, for approximately 104 weeks, or 2/3 of their life. [R]
If we do the math, this would be equivalent to giving humans over 200 mg of Cardarine PER DAY, for 2/3 of their lives, or 50 fucking years.
To say that “Cardarine causes cancer” because of this study would be like saying that “coffee is will kill you” because someone drank 5,000 cups in 24 hours and died of a heart attack. No shit!
Is Post Cycle Therapy Required?
Thankfully, because Cardarine is not a SARM, it will NOT shut down your natural testosterone production even slightly, so no PCT is needed.
Cardarine is a PPAR delta receptor agonist, which means that it won’t lower testosterone levels, or have any other hormonal side effects.
If you use Cardarine with other SARMs for a stack however, it may be a good idea to do one. Read my SARMs PCT guide for how to do this.
The Bottom Line
In summary, Cardarine is one of the best research supplements out there for burning fat, enhancing endurance, and helping you get shredded.
If you do decide to buy Cardarine, be sure to get it from a good source that tests every batch of their SARMs for purity, so you know they’re legit.

Not at all, no – no Keto Flu. Carb intake was lower, but still pretty high since I was trying to build muscle.

Hey there! Thanks for this! I just purchased Cardarine from Proven Peptides! To clarify, one full dropper is 10mg? Correct? (I realize it is 10mg/ml….but I want to make sure a full dropper is 1 full ml) And is one full dropper a dropper completely filled from end to end, or does it only fill about halfway? Hi Jon, a part of fat loss that I struggle with the most is the appetite suppression. I can usually cut for about 3-4 weeks at most but then the hunger cravings get way too intense and I also start to feel light-headed/dizzy throughout the day the longer I cut. So how are you able to maintain your appetite suppression long enough to cut the fat to gets abs? Don’t you ever get cravings? Thanks
